GLORIA LEWIS

Attitudes Studio founders Jim and Gloria Lewis specialize in modernist sculpture that captures elegance in motion, featuring bronze and stainless steel works as well as steel fabrications.

Gloria Lewis (formerly McGinn) is a sculptor and painter from Chicago, IL, who studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. A lifelong artist, Gloria was an active painter, graphic designer and fashion designer in her 20s before settling into a decades-long educational career. After retiring in 1992, she decided to resume her arts career, taking a job at a foundry in Hot Springs, AR, to help fuel new passion: sculpture. In 2002, she met fellow sculptor Jim Lewis and the two of them established Attitudes Studio. The couple wed in 2007.

Jim, a self taught sculptor and painter (and Vietnam vet) from Tulsa, OK, had spent his adult years running a construction business. With no formal art training, Jim had been blessed his entire life with an active artistic mind and the uncanny ability to not only draw, paint and design architectural renderings, but also to create beautiful works of sculpture from anything he could get his hands on (from scraps of wood and metal to found objects and acrylic).

After establishing Attitudes Studio with Gloria and creating dozens of sculptures, the duo began entering their stylistically varied modern works in regional and national juried art shows, quickly establishing themselves as noteworthy sculptors in the vibrant and competitive Hot Springs art community. In 2008, Jim and Gloria relocated their studio to Costa Rica where they continued to refine their steel fabrication pieces and bronze works as well as teaching their craft to several students. In 2023, they moved their operation to Tulsa, OK, where they currently reside.
